In my professional and personal life, I am known as Martyn. In the music world, I am known as ‘Ric’. I don’t mind either, and respond to both.
I was born in Northampton, and ended up in Bournemouth, Via Watford, in 1971, still living then with my parents who had bought and then ran Hurn Post Office for many years.
I moved away from Bournemouth out to 3LeggedX with my wife, Sue Gardiner, in 2006 where we have lived ever since. It is a beautiful area to live in and we do so love it.
For 35yrs, I was an active member of Bournemouth Sports Club at Chapel Gate by Hurn Airport, playing and coaching both Hockey and Cricket up to County level, until physically unable to cope with the required commitment. I retired in 2008. I remain an active Golfer, and I am an Honorary Life Member at Somerley Park Golf Club, near Ringwood.
I am an active Musician, and currently play as a guitarist in a Verwood based ensemble known as ‘Fayrewood Convention’.

We have 2 cats, Bonnie & Clyde, and a competition horse called Saving Grace (Gracie), which my Wife competes in both X-Country and Show-Jumping.

I was born and raised in South Wales, but had visited Dorset all of my life.  My Mother was born in Shaftesbury where I still have close family.
I always had a mind that I would like to live in this beautiful County and so, having completed my honours degree in City & Regional Planning and Post-Graduate Diploma in Town Planning at Cardiff University, I was keen to move.
I started my career as a Planning Officer obtaining promotions at Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Council. In 2008 I moved to Verwood with my now husband who is a locally born Architect.  In 2009 we decided this was where we wanted to put down our roots and so we established our architectural and town planning practice.  We have built our home, our business and our lives in Verwood and I am grateful for the opportunities that the town has given us.  Along with our small dog and rescue ducks, we are proud to call Verwood home.

I look forward to being part of the team that continues to make Verwood and Three Legged Cross the lovely thriving communities we enjoy living in.
