The Finance and General Purposes Committee consists of twelve members and meets eleven times a year. This is the organisational, administrative and financial committee, tasked with dealing with correspondence, expenditure and monitoring Council activity and highway matters.
The Plans Consultative Committee has nine members and meets on a three weekly cycle to correspond with the period allowed for comment on planning applications by the District Council. Its role is to examine all planning applications affecting the Civil Parish and forward comments on them to the Dorset Council Plans Committee who make the decisions, hopefully conditioned by the Town Council's advice.
The Amenities Committee has a membership of nine councillors. It administers the day-to-day operation of the cemetery and oversees the functioning, maintenance and safety of open spaces and play areas. It meets quarterly. One of the open spaces, Verwood Recreation Ground, is held by Verwood Memorial Recreation Ground Trust, whose trustees are the 18 elected members of Verwood Town Council (Registered Charity No. 1055101). The day-to-day upkeep of Verwood Recreation Ground is administered by the Amenities Committee. Maintenance costs are paid by Verwood Town Council but are included in the annual returns to the Charity Commission made by the Trust.
