Mayor's Christmas Message 2016
On behalf of the members and officers of Verwood and Three Legged Cross Council, I would like to offer my sincere greetings to all residents and wish you all the very best at this special time of
It is a great privilege to serve as Mayor and I am very proud and honoured to have been chosen for this civic role. Over the last seven months I have met lots of wonderful and dedicated people and I look forward to meeting many more over the coming months until the end of my Civic Year in May 2017.
I have seen at first hand the service given to the community by the myriad of volunteers who work selflessly all year round to help others, these are wonderful people involved in diverse community groups and charities.
We know, of course, that some people will not be with their loved ones this Christmas and we send to them special good wishes. I particularly think of those serving in the armed forces across the world and their families here at home.
A special thank you is due to all those people who will be working over the Christmas period in the emergency service and all other essential services who keep us safe or provide community support to people that may otherwise be alone at Christmas.
I wish everyone a very happy Christmas that is safe, warm and comfortable and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year for 2017.

Each year the Mayor invites the Mayors from Dorset and neighbouring counties to Verwood to promote our Town. The visit started in the Heritage Centre where a presentation was given by Mr Michael Shaw depicting the History of Verwood, and the children from Hillside Community School sang carols. As the dignitaries moved to the Hub they were greeted in the bistro with singing from the Verwood Choral Society. The afternoon progressed with wonderful dancing from Katie a local young lady and the Verwood Brass Band playing seasonal music.
