Lindsey Dedden

Born Edgware,
Middlesex, educated Harrow County Grammar School for Girls
and Loughborough University of Technology ( Honours degree
in Industrial Chemistry and Management Studies, with
Diploma in Industrial Studies). Met husband ,Alan Dedden C
Eng. B.Sc. MIEE, MIEEE ,while at Loughborough and married
1974.One son, Ross born 1984.
I have worked in
Personnel Management in the public sector and private
sector in the UK and in the private sector in Seattle,
USA. I studied for IPM (Now IPD) qualifications and am now
a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel
and Development (MCIPD).
Since moving to
Verwood in 1985, I have been active in the community in
many ways. I served on the committee which produced
“Viewpoint” when this was a community magazine,
chaired the committee running the St Michael’s Mother
and Baby group, and produced the Parish Magazine. I was
elected to the Town Council in February 1990 and have
chaired the Cemetery, Highways and Transportation and
Finance and General Purposes Committees. I represented the
Council on East Dorset Citizens’ Advice Bureaux Board
from 1990 until 2004. I have also represented the Council
on the Verwood Youth Centre Management Committee
(currently serving as Vice- Chairman), Dorset Association
of Parish and Town Councils(DATC) Eastern Area Committee
and Larger Councils’ Committee and Verwood Memorial Hall
Management Committee. I am currently Vice Chairman of
DAPTC Executive and Towns and Larger Parishes Committees.
From 1995 to 1999, I
was one of Verwood and Three Legged Cross Ward’s three
District Councillors and during this period served as Vice
Chairman of the Environment Committee.
In 1997 I was
appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Royal
Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Trust. I was
re-appointed in 2001 and to the new Board when the Trust
became the first Foundation Trust in Dorset and Somerset
in April 2005.
In 1996, I was one of
6 people who formed the Forum for Three Legged Cross. I
have served as Secretary of the Forum since its inception.
As a result of the work of the Forum, I became Chairman of
the committee which produces the “Three Cross Herald”
. I was also Secretary to the committee organising the
Village Appraisal project in Three Legged Cross and from
1999 to 2002 was a regular volunteer at the Youth Club in
Three Legged Cross.
In
my spare time, I enjoy sled dog rallies as a helper and
spectator (Alan, Ross and I have owned Siberian Huskies
since 1990) and fund raise for the Siberian Husky Club of
Great Britain Welfare Scheme (for rescue and rehoming). I
am also a member of Mensa, CPRE, National Trust, and
Cadw,(Heritage in Wales).
