Gillian
Belcher
After visiting for 12
years, I moved to Verwood a few years ago and immediately
became involved in local activities.
I was married for 40 years
until my husband died suddenly and I have 2 married
daughters and 4 grandsons, as such I am a strong supporter
of my large extended family and understand the needs of
all ages.
My working life was spent
as a Clerical Officer with British Coal 20 years and later
The Local Authority 5 years, in an accounting capacity.
Together all these
experiences make me well placed to voice the views and
concerns of the residents of Verwood on local issues.
Since being elected onto
the Town Council in May 2007, I have particular
involvement with Age Concern, am on the planning committee
and have become a Trustee and active volunteer at the
Verwood Hub Community Centre. (I am very keen that our
fantastic new facility, The Verwood Hub, be used and
enjoyed to its full potential by all the residents of
Verwood).
I like travelling abroad to
savour different cultures, enjoy driving and am a keen
music lover, particularly jazz which is well provided for
locally. I am also a member of Verwood Methodist Church.
