Alan Dedden
I was born in north
London in 1949. I attended a variety of schools in
Edmonton and Enfield until my parents moved to Harpenden
in 1964.
I gained a degree in
Electronic Engineering and Physics at Loughborough
University of Technology. Whilst at Loughborough, I met
Lindsey and we have been married since 1974. We have one
son, Ross, who graduated from Stafford University in 2006.
Following two years
with the publishing section of the Institute of Physics, I
joined Marconi Elliott Avionic Systems Ltd at Rochester,
Kent and worked on the automatic flight controls for
Concorde and Boeing 747. Whilst with Marconi, I spent two
years in Seattle at the Boeing facility. In 1984 I joined
Flight Refuelling Ltd and have worked on the electronic
systems of their unmanned aircraft and air-to-air
refuelling systems.
I am a Chartered
Engineer, Member of the Institution of Engineering and
Technology and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and
Electronic Engineers.
I was elected to the
Town Council in May 2003 following my involvement with the
Bakers Farm Community Centre Association. I have served on
and chaired various Town Council committees.
Lindsey and I have
lived in Verwood since 1985. We have been privileged to
live with huskies since 1990, and for 10 of those years, I
raced two in husky events across the country.
