Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Minerals
Development Framework - Road Show at Verwood Farmers' Market
on
Saturday 22 October |
|
An additional road show is to be held at Verwood Farmers' Market on Saturday 22 October between 9am and 1pm We tend to take minerals for granted – yet they play an essential role in our lives. A new house for example requires about 60 tonnes of sand and gravel to build. Bournemouth Borough, Dorset County and the Borough of Poole Councils are inviting comments on the future strategy for the extraction of sand and gravel, building stone and other minerals. The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Minerals Core Strategy does not identify specific sites where minerals will be extracted, whether around Verwood and Three Legged Cross or elsewhere in the county. However, it does identify where minerals are found. The decisions on exactly where those minerals will be worked will be taken at a later stage of the planning process. The Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Minerals Core Strategy also sets out policies to manage mineral extraction and the criteria that will be used for future site selection. You can comment on the strategy for mineral extraction in Dorset from 15th July to 9th September 2011. For further information go to www.dorsetforyou.com/mcs or call Dorset County Council’s minerals and waste planning team on (01305) 228585. There has been much concern recently about proposals for mineral extraction and waste disposal at Blue Haze and Purple Haze. These sites have been put forward in the Hampshire Minerals and Waste Core Strategy and Site Specific (minerals and waste sites) policy document. This is a separate document from that published for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. If you wish to make any comments on the site proposals for Blue Haze and Purple Haze, please send them to Hampshire County Council.
